Life sucks.
Life is beautiful.
Life sucks.
And on and on and on…
Why is this so hard?
When life is beautiful…
It’s easy to be optimistic when life is open roads and ice cream cone stands. We love those days.
When life sucks…
We hate the suck, the life suck.
No one wants to talk about it – think about it – live through it.
When life sucks, we can overcome the hard bits.
When you’re trudging through the worst of what life offers there is always something of value to learn.
The joy of the best of what life offers is still present, albeit harder to tolerate in the midst of pain.
~ STOP IT, JOY! Can’t you see I’m in no mood?! GAA! ~
In part, this is how not to suck at life: recalling the good.
It’s okay to embrace the hard, to be bowed by the weight of it – for everything has its season.
The trick is to remember it’s not permanent.
When you take this perspective the things that suck grow smaller in power.
You will feel the warming sun on your face again.
You will.
Overcome the hard bits.
Until then, walk on – keep moving – knowing where you are, what you are feeling, how you are suffering, has meaning.
Also, can’t hurt to have some cake. A cookie. Grab a hug.
As a writer, I use whatever shows up in my life to fuel my work. The good, the bad, the jazz-hands insanity.
Do this.
Whatever your endeavors are, use what you know, what you experience, to expand joy, even in the hard.
Why life sucks.
Why life sucks is another talk for another day, but I would counter that question with this…
Does life suck?
Or is it of our own making?
Or is the life suck simply an evil we must tolerate until we run home to Jesus.
I think both are right in their appointed times.
Change your focus, change your life.
My life has been a lesson on figuring out ways to make the suck better, or ways to overcome, instead of contemplating jumping.
One key to this is believing we are stronger together.
As it says on my site:
“I’m compelled to shine the light on the threads that connect us – through content creation and sales copy – instead of the vast gulf that divides us.
We are stronger together, no matter how terrifying the flying debris appears or how soft the landing cushion feels. We are stronger knowing we aren’t alone.
That’s why I write.”
You aren’t alone.
You’ve got me! You’ve got us! Most importantly, you’ve got Jesus!
Life sucks ~ Overcome the hard bits (don’t jump!)!
Go slay, you beautiful mofos.

Thank you so much for the reminder that we are not alone in this crazy beautiful terrifying life. The hard times can be beautiful too. Just like the wonderful times can be terrifying.
I also found you on the GRAND Social.

I’m a big believer that the hard times can be some of the best times.

Saw a play last night–the humans–that’s all about what you’re saying in your life-sometimes-sucks post. we can get pulled under by stuff that’s not necessarily anyone’s fault–or even ours. just get up, take and deep breath and keep going–and be grateful for the supports you have. and, of course, go slay.

Get up. Keep going. SLAY!
