Peter Said Unto Him, Lord, Why Cannot I Follow Thee Now?
“Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.” John 13:37–38
How intimately we know this failing; Peter’s pain is our pain.
Even, like Peter, as we swear we will not, we have denied our Lord Christ Jesus, openly and without hesitation, just as he did.
Simply: we are sinners in need of God’s grace and mercy.
Yet, by the Blood of Jesus, shed for the weight of all sin, for every denial of this world, we are redeemed. Amen.
Go forth this day, sanctified, made new for the eternal life to come.
All is well. Alleluia!
