You Shall Love The Lord Your God With All Your Heart
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,”Which is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31
The Old Covenant is not dead; God’s word command us still.
Love the Lord God with all your heart. Amen. May we pause through our daily tasks and joys to to commend ourselves to loving God with everything within us.
Love your neighbor as yourself. We test our faith in these words. Undeniably, our paths are crossed with those whom we would rather not love, at times we are those that seem unlovable, yet God’s word, God’s wisdom and his instruction are clear. Love them.
Father, we offer everything we have in our profound longing for you. May your love be so overwhelming to our spirit that we cannot help ourselves but to love others, especially when we’d rather turn from that command.
We praise your holy name!
All is well. Alleluia!
