The Spirit Is Indeed Willing, But The Flesh Is Weak
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
We are made of flesh and bone and remain forever weak in this world, yet our spirit, O LORD, is willing.
In our weakness, we instinctively cry out to heaven, ashamed or brokenhearted, beaten or dismayed, angry or humiliated, that we have failed against our best intentions.
Yet, Jesus.
He understands that our eternal spirit is indeed willing, yet the earthly flesh is weak.
Thank you, Jesus. You came as man and as Savior. You know our failings, our honest intentions; you know our longing for you, and our sorrow, especially in our weakness.
Jesus, you are the tempter’s fear, yet you are our greatest joy.
We praise you! We thank you, Jesus!
All is well. Alleluia!
