The Lord Had Prepared

“Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.” Jonah 1:17

God prepared the great fish for goodness, for God’s goodness, and for Jonah’s goodness, even though he had denied God.

Jonah cried from deep within the belly of hell; he cried out to God, who heard his voice.

For three days and three nights Jonah was deep within the great fish, praying.

Until, at last the fish gave up Jonah to dry land.

He then went about the work of God, whom he had denied.

If God can prepare a great fish for his works, then how much more does he prepare us, even when we turn from him?

God is the God of compassion. Repent and He will cast off our sins into the depths of the sea.
