More Tortuous Than Anything Is The Human Heart

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt: who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9

 We are a sinful people that longs to love God with the fullness of our soul, yet are in need of his grace as we fall short.

Our intentions must be probed, our actions sifted through the mercy of God’s will, as only he can search out the depths of our hearts, the purity of intention, or the yield to self that is hidden to all but our creator.

How we grieve our sinful nature! Lord, we trust only in you and not the longings that seek to deceive. Forgive us and turn us to you.

Blessed are those who hope in the LORD!
