The good shepherd.
“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:11 (KJV)
To lay down one’s life for another is the ultimate act of love, is the ultimate sacrifice in love.
To do so for one you love is understandable, but to do so for all humankind, for those who curse you, hate you, scourge you, and deny you, is a level of love that we will never know while here in the physical world.
Jesus instructed us to pray for those who hate us (Matthew 5:44) and he gave us the example through his death on the cross, spilling his sacrificial, healing, holy, blood for all.
Jesus, may we ever look to you to teach us how to love, especially how to love those who curse us and persecute us.
You are saved by the stripes of Jesus.
All is well. Alleluia!
