And You, Child, Will Be Called Prophet Of The Most High
“And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and death’s shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” Luke 1:76-79
John was born to be the prophet of Jesus, to prepare the way for our Savior.
He leapt in the womb upon hearing Mary’s voice, who was pregnant with Jesus (Luke 1:41).
John’s life was dedicated to Jesus, offering the news of the coming salvation – the holy remission of sins – to those in the darkness, in the shadow of death.
Through God’s tender mercy, he carried and shared the way of peace before the coming of Christ.
May we ever offer Christ’s love, in whom we have redemption, to those who sit in the shadow of death.
All is well. Alleluia!
