The Darkness Has Not Overcome It

“The light shines in darkness; and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

The evilness of darkness cannot grasp the light, the holy originator of love and mercy and our very salvation, for in the darkness, in the grip of evil, there is no hope, no faith, no discernment of God’s goodness.

Father, pierce every soul. Rush in with the fullness of your loving, healing, Light of the World, Jesus.

Cause thy face to shine, O Lord! (Psalms 80:19)

Christ Jesus, your light defeats the darkness, overcoming hardness of hearts, overcoming disbelief and scorn, overcoming self and sin; your grace and mercy abound.
