Be Merciful, Just As Your Father Is Merciful
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give
will be the measure you get back.” Luke 6:36-38
Be merciful, as our Father is, at times may be the hardest task placed before us. As a fallen people, our instincts are to act protectively and return harm for harm. To wait on God can seem impossible.
Yet, we see the peace and the good gifts that await us if we are obedient.
Just for this day (and I pray the days that follow), let us be as merciful as our Father. Offer forgiveness where you feel none is justified. Offer no condemnation, granting God his place to move in his holy will. Give. Offer the fullest measure of goodness for others.
Our walk with God the Father, his Son, and Holy Spirit is not without trials. Knowing that Jesus is here and that he hears us, he sees us, he loves us, is enough.
Peace be with you, my brother and sisters in Christ.
All is well. Alleluia!
