And She Gave Birth To Her Firstborn Son
“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be enrolled with Mary his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
And that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.” Luke 2:4-8
Father, your ways are not our ways. The mystery of the holy conception remains with you, yet the birth of Mary’s firstborn son, the birth of your beloved Son, is our understandable gift of your saving mercy, of your deep love and grace towards your children.
May we have the hearts of the shepherds, keeping watch for the return of Jesus, as we yield to your holy will with the heart of Mary.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.
All is well. Alleluia!
