Do Not Return Evil For Evil
“Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult; but, on the contrary, a blessing, because to this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9
Our earthly human nature conflicts with the Holy Spirit within. Each day we wrestle with aligning ourselves with God’s will and not our own – with emptying self to be filled by the Sprit.
When we are hurt – we want to hit back. We desire immediate justice, by our hand.
Yet, we are called, as followers of Christ, to bless instead.
While righteous anger has its place, and protecting ourselves and others from the evil that roams is a holy charge, God commands us to love one another, to bless one another.
Father, you know our heart’s desire when we are hurt. We pray our eyes are ever on you, so that we may recall your words and “…eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.” (1 Peter 3:11)
God’s blessing on you this day and all that follow. Be planted in the house of the Lord!
All is well through Christ Jesus. Alleluia!
