To Be Forgiven, Forgive
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15
Jesus offers us wisdom and knowledge in his word: forgive to be forgiven.
He did not mention forgetting, or uniting with the one who has wronged you, or even considering your feelings about forgiving.
Simply forgive.
Say the words: Father, I forgive them.
Pray for the needs of those who have caused you pain.
Act in faith, through the holy instruction of Jesus.
Leave your reluctance at God’s throne; allow him the space to move hearts.
Forgive to be forgiven. Amen.
All is well. Alleluia!
